A Note from Our Founder
Akaru was born from a feeling I couldn’t ignore — a deep longing to create a slower, more intentional life. One rooted in simplicity, close to the ocean, connected to movement, creativity, and community.
After years of living between cities, teaching yoga, collaborating with artists, and dreaming of a space where all these elements could exist in harmony, I found myself in Poneloya, Nicaragua. The energy here felt different. Natural. Honest. Like home.
I created Akaru as a place to live that dream out loud — to wake up with purpose, eat food grown close to the earth, move with the tides, and share this way of life with others. It’s a space for artists, seekers, surfers, and anyone looking to reconnect — with themselves, with others, and with something deeper.
Here, we move. We share meals. We collaborate. We rest. We nourish not only the body, but the soul. Akaru is more than a residency or a retreat. It’s a living, breathing expression of the life I believe in — and I’m so grateful to share it with you.
With love,
Isabella Arguello
